Ada Wren

Paints the valley she lives in, in every season.

Ada Wren paints the valley she lives in — its fields, its weather and the light that crosses it in every season. She works outdoors in oil on small panels, then in the studio on canvases that take a year or more.

Born in 1971 in Burlington, Vermont, she studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design and took an MFA in 1998. After a residency in the hills outside Rome she began the ponds and heaths that followed her home. Her work is in the collections of the Hollis Museum of Art and the Northfield Collection, and she teaches landscape painting in the summer.
